Ward Redistricting

At the last Council meeting, a referral was made to redistrict the ward boundaries based on the latest census results, which have now been certified to the City. If you are interested in how your ward might be reorganized, attend the Rules Committee meeting on Wednesday, December 14, immediately following the Utilities Committee meeting (which starts at 6 p.m. and typically lasts no longer than 1/2 hour).

There are significant proposed revisions to ward boundaries, including Ward 4. I will post the existing and proposed options on the Available Documents section of this web page later today.

Why wasn't this done prior to the most recent election? How long have the census results been complete? I along with others in this ward voted for u because of how u represented this ward and what u have done for this ward. So now there is a chance that we may be represented by someone that some of us may not have voted for. Typical of how they do things in Elyria.

Those are good questions for Wednesday's meeting.

Last night at the Rules Committee meeting, Option 2 was selected. It is likely that Option 2 will be the new ward boundaries. They will not commence until the next election, however, so your choice this election remains in place through the 2012-13 term of Council.
