Community Garden on North Street

According to Block Watch Leader and Community Garden Coordinator Holly Huff, the community garden on North Street is in danger of being permanently closed. Mary Jo Vasi, the non-resident owner of the adjacent vacant lot, has sought the City's permission to purchase the lot on which the community garden is maintained. The community garden has been a source of community sharing, caring and mutual support and these efforts have been recognized through local awards.

If you would like to share your thoughts with City Council, either in support of keeping the community garden or in favor of selling the property to Ms. Vasi, come to the next Community Development meeting on July 25, 2011 at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers and make your voice heard.

The City voted to retain this property and not sell it to Mary Jo Vasi at the August 1 Council meeting.
