Thanks to all of the concerned residents who made telephone calls, sent emails and came to speak at the Council meeting tonight, the vote to amend the City Budget to allocate funds for the opening of North Pool passed by a 9-2 margin. The only dissenting votes were Vic Stewart (Council-At-Large) and Larry Tanner (D-1st Ward).
14 people signed up to speak on this issue, one in opposition and the rest in support. The full Council heard you and changed the Budget to reflect your expressed interest in opening the pool. This is a victory for the residents of the City and a victory for the City as a whole because our parks and recreation department and programs have a priceless value to the people of Elyria and help to distinguish us from other places. Our residents care about our City and it was very evident tonight. I was especially proud to be a representative tonight and I was proud of my fellow Council members who heard you and responded to you.
