Do you think that City Council members should have 4-year terms instead of 2-years? Do you think the provisions regarding recall of a public official need to be modified? Do you believe that the City should be prohibited from using public monies to promote levies, candidates, issues and other political campaigns (which it currently is not)?
These and other topics are part of the conversation with the Charter Review Commission, whose job it is to review the City Charter and determine what changes, if any, need to be made.
If you have thoughts or suggestions regarding proposed changes to the City Charter, plan to attend the next meeting on Monday at 5 p.m. or submit your comments to the Clerk of Council's office so they may be considered. So far, there has been very little public input or attendance at these meetings. Our City Charter provides the basic foundation for how we run as a city. After the Charter Review meeting, Community Development and Finance Committees will be meeting. This is a good opportunity to see several committees in action and weigh in on the pending issues. Anyone may speak and it is less formal than a regular Council meeting. In fact, the committees are where most of the discussion for pending city issues takes place. See your elected representatives and city employees in action!
